1. What time is check in and can I arrange an earlier/later check in?
Check in for guests staying with us 2pm-8.30pm.
2. What time is check out and can I arrange a later check out?
Check out for all guests is 10.30am. Unfortunately we cannot arrange a later check out than this as the rooms need to be cleaned in time for new guests arriving at 2pm.
3. What time is breakfast?
Breakfast for all guests throughout the year is 8.30am-9.30am.
4. Are dogs allowed?
Well behaved dogs are allowed to stay in five of the Hotel rooms (Westmorland, Winster, Duddon, Lune and Leven) at a charge of £10 per night provided we are informed in advance. We reserve the right to refuse anyone who has not informed us in advance and should this happen the full cost of the stay will be charged.
Dogs are also allowed on the patio and on the garden but for the comfort of other guests and hygiene reasons they are not allowed in the restaurant.
Any damage caused by dogs visiting the premises will be charged at cost.
5. Are children or extra guests allowed to stay at the Hotel?
We do not have any family rooms available at the Hotel. One child or adult can be accommodated on a fold away bed in some of the rooms (Leven, Eden or Lune) at a charge of £30 per night for bedding and breakfast.
6. Are children allowed in the restaurant?
Well behaved and supervised children are more than welcome.
7. Do I have to pay a deposit when I book a room?
We do not ask for a deposit when you book a room with us. We just ask for card details to secure the booking and payment on check in.
8. What if I have booked with a voucher or deal and I need to change my dates?
I am afraid once you have booked with a voucher or deal you are unable to change your dates as it states in the terms and conditions.
9. What if I have booked direct and I need to cancel or change my dates?
Guests booking direct are welcome to cancel or change their dates up to 48 hours in advance. The cut off for this is 1pm two days prior to your stay. If you need to cancel or modify your booking after midnight two days prior to your stay then the full price of your first nights stay per room will be charged (e.g. if you are due to check in on a Friday you will be charged from 12:01am on the Wednesday). If you are staying for only one night then you will be charged for your full stay per room.
10. Is there parking available?
There is free parking available on the gravel car park or the garden 24/7.
11. I have booked a room in the hotel, does this mean I can definitely eat in the restaurant that evening?
Whilst we always try to accommodate residents in the restaurant we cannot always guarantee a table will be available; some nights we can be very busy with bookings or have a private function on. If you would like to eat in the restaurant whilst you stay with us it is recommended that you call and book a table in advance.
12. Can I smoke at the Uplands?
Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes/vapours are allowed in the grounds outside the building – we just ask that you dispose of your ends in the provided ashtrays. Neither are allowed in the building.
If we find that guests have been smoking in the building then we reserve the right to ask you to leave immediately. In these circumstances you will be liable for the whole cost of your stay. Regardless of whether you are asked to leave, we also reserve the right to charge a £200 fee if we are unable to relet the bedroom for 24 hours whilst it is fully aired. You will be notified in writing as soon as is reasonability practicable if evidence of smoking is discovered after you depart.
13. When is the bar open?
The bar is open everyday from 12pm. You do not have to eat in the restaurant to join us for a drink.
14. What if I leave something behind at the Hotel?
Items found after departure or a guest has left will be kept for four weeks. After this they will be donated to a charity organisation. Postage to an address of your choice can be arranged and paid for over the phone once postage costs have been received.
